Flat Screens

Have you strolled into a Costco lately? The visitor is greeted by a wall of large and larger flat panels displaying variety of sport or nature based activities. Some even boast 3D viewing capabilities while some are streaming the video from the cloud. Could we see a day when the Pulte and the Toll brothers start replacing dry wall from China with flat panels from China? How about the entire house is nothing but a flat paneled box? One thing it will do for the conspicous user is they will not need to heat the place in winter with the amount of heat it will generate. Not to mention that the light it exudes will also allow for other mundane activities like cooking or cleaning happen with ease. The more I pontificate on this subject the more I think this may be a good idea. There will not be a need for remote controls either since the resident can merely watch what they want, when they want all the time in any part of their abode - from the toilet seat to the shower to the din

Out of the Wood Yet?

Is it 'out of the wood' or 'woods'? Anyway, while I contemplate the right use and etymology of this cliched expression, the reason I mention it is that the media loves it and has recently been observed to use it in context of the US and perhaps global economic status. There are about 10% of the employable public give or take a few. To them they too are sensing their grass ain't green but are also not sure where it will be and how t

Happy New Year

So it was that time of year again - it was about to end. Well I am always confounded by how the human race has set itself markers to define how they are about to spend their time during the course of their existence on this rock. New Year Eve is one such. It is essentially an arbitrary point in time for the rock that does not much care - merely spinning away as it has done for billions of years taking a leisurely stroll around its mother ship; the Star we know as our Sun. As to the evolved species that occupies the planet their minds suddenly get oriented to defining how they would like to focus on the passage of the one thing they have come to fuss over most - TIME. The switch to another year is marked by variety of anal events like watching a mechanically exercised lit ball descend in a crowded and often very chilly night on the east coast of a particular continent to huge amounts of chemicals being lit in the form of fireworks to shapely and unshapely organisms gyrating to b
