Plaza Midwood

As we familiarize ourselves amidst the Charlotte surrounds we discover a vibrant and young city. The sheer acreage devoted to the younger generations and their likes (not all bad) is transforming the socio economic landscape in a big way. Large financial and services sector is headquartered in Charlotte driving economic prosperity which in turn is seeking young talent to staff roles. This resource needs spaces to stay and food to eat. They also like diversity. All that is good. Gentrification (not as a pejorative) is happening all around the city center. Infrastructure is frankly not keeping up. Roads are dilapidated and formal green spaces are limited. Commerce is trumping all as offices move in and lure employees to stay closer to town. Again a good sign where the workers can stay closer to work and not clog highway arteries everywhere. But of course this drives prices up and what is available in the form of food choices are not all great. Also the generation seems to like their opi

Watkins Glen, NY

A scenic wonderland. At the base of Lake Seneca, one of five finger lakes in upstate NY state. This geological wonder is similar to what I witnessed in slot canyons of Arizona except the rock is shale and limestone sediment carved over millenia.   Water still runs through making it amazing to hear and view.  About 2 miles in length from one end to another there is a grade of about 500 feet.  Easier to do from top to bottom.  You can park up top and then take a bus back up.  Below some pictures. Also access to the lake is easy and was not crowded so we ventured there for a spell. Marina at south end of Lake Seneca (deepest of five finger lakes) Then we wanted to check out the NASCAR track that was hosting a race this upcoming weekend in August (after being closed couple years for covid). Lucky for us we missed the crowds but unfortunately it meant we could not attend the race or even get to see the track since it was closed up. Finally a time to reflect on one of America's legacies

Everything is legendary

Superlatives used to be reserved for something well..worthy of highest praise. Have you noticed nowadays that a local garage sale is also considered legendary?  As is someone's cooking.  What exactly is the legend you may ask? Well its just that no one actually knows. Let alone know the meaning of the word being used as an adjective. Or that everyone is a hero during this pandemic?  A hero? Really? Because they showed up to work or that they did not complain about loading the grocery on the shelves? Or that doing your job for which you get paid requires you to praise how awesome Tiffany was with her customer service? America has lost its marbles and got into this type of hollow, mechanical reaction mode. Best to show that everyone is wonderful and oh tip them if you think they get 10 out of 10 stars.
