A Nudge to Catastrophe

America stands on a precipice. That is not hyperbole.  That is fact.  Ripped by political tension and growing inequality laid bare by a pandemic it is showing the age of an almost 250 year old republic. Add to that lingering racial prejudice and lack of empathy we are clearly at a crossroads of where to turn next.  One of those choices ends in complete disaster. Time to get Vegas odds?  No.   Time to think.  Yes. Exactly what I feel has been on the decline. Critical thinking.  Every man, woman and child needs to above all develop this faculty if not for anything then for self preservation.  Of themselves therefore their community and consequently of this species. The so called rapid pace of innovation and development is often making headlines but as well known historian Yuval Harari points out someone has to take the contrarian if not realistic view of what the unintended consequences of all this development mean for humanity. I would posit t...

Learning Telugu

Telugu is the lingua franca in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh or AP.  Rather what was the former AP has now split into two states in the union that is India.  One retains the Andhra moniker and the other is called Telangana.  Water and economic rights are at the root of the split by some account but I am no expert in the goings on over there. That said Telugu as a language is foreign to me but am being driven to learn some words for the sake of the most basic of needs to be met.  Food.  As the readership is aware food is more than nourishment to me.  It is one of my primary reasons to exist.  To sample and if it suits me to consume in large quantities the dishes of a region.  Daily staples aka dinner is always a question mark for the best half since she manages that operation for the sake of the family.  If she has the time and energy we eat well since she cranks out a variety of Indian curry based meals.   But i...

NaMo in the valley - a short timeline

The Pope was jealous of Narendra Modi aka NaMo.  You could see it in his sad look as he traveled on the east coast and did not get to meet the valley elite.  Both lead over a billion people, each of different faiths, both sport four letter call signs and yet the contrast in their visits was palpable. Even Lord Ganesh who was the Silicon Valley Idol until last weekend probably had a feeling of being let down (in the SF bay and otherwise) as the fickle crowds switched their chants from Om Ganesha to NaMo. The Indian Prime Minister flew in on his own havai jahaj aka an American made Boeing 747, painted with colors of Air India to its maiden flight into San Jose International Airport right in the middle of the techno campii (plural of campus maybe). He spoke in Hindi (translated by some traveling babus to English and making for a very confusing message) to the cult of ex-pats that went to greet him and that surrounded him like no surround sound ever did, chanting his n...

Viralworthy?

Getting a virus was bad news.  In some cases it still is.  Think AIDS, Ebola, Hanta etc...not good. Of course there are those kinds that infect all known computing devices - from large mainframes to handheld devices - also causing serious side effects.  Getting rid of said viruses is big business. Then there is like this thing with like the new generation...where things you think or better yet would not even think of go viral.  Encouraging all to partake in this virology rather than eradicating it is also big business. Anything is fair game... a bagger in a store to cat clawing the heck out of a carpet to someone taking a dump on a highway or repeatedly vomitting... Access to technology in the hands of new generation - created by some of the best minds in Silicon Alley is causing massive amounts of data pollution that transcends all known logic. At the end of the day - all this twitting, facing, gramming and tumblering is so bizzare that it c...

Looking Hot

I am not a tweeter nor a booker.  I am a blogger.  So here goes my way of expressing my innermost and most sincere thoughts as I woke this morn.. Looking hot. Looking desirable. Thank you for being there for me. You give me the boost I need to make my day. I am too bored of uploading a picture but I will tell you who I was addressing. My cup of Masala Indian Chai. These days it appears that a person's heat index is what defines their facebook worth.  My better half sometimes indulges herself to see what amount of entropy is being generated amidst the ether by her peers who are wandering parts of the planet with garments that may or may not define their true personality. Then the commentary that follows from other peers and opposite gendered ones is something profoundly insightful like - Looking Hot!  Cannot believe you are a mother!  etc. With the onset of summer et al I find the heat too stifling as it is so I am going to go and relax with a c...
