Apple has just announced its next hoopla filled event - albeit this to take place virtually. Fast forward to the day of the event - Tim Cook comes out.  Live blogging continues as the geeky reporters start explaining the details of Cook's BMI and trouser colors. Soon other chiefs of divisions inside the fruit company come out talking about newer keyboards (which actually are decade old design but most in the audience and especially the brain dead user community have forgotten about). So everyone cheers for the new keyboards. Towards the end - the 'one more thing' slide goes up... and out walks Kim.  The 1 and only Un. Coming to America 25 years back I did not know of this Tom Hanks. As it happened my introduction to this great actor was watching a Bob Zemeckis directed film called 'Forrest Gump'.  And it clicked.  It went on to win the Academy award for best picture and so on but I was introduced to a prolific character actor. Much like Forrest I consider myself somewhat dimwitted in many matters but am never one to back down form a challenge. The 'life is like a box of chocolates, you're never sure what you're gonna get' line resonates with me except it also takes the form of people I meet, or the kimchi I get or the donut that may or may not exist when I walk upto the checkout counter. A hazy fall day in the bay area courtesy some seriously climactic climate to the north of us.  Left bunch of humans dead is how bad it got with a sudden wildfire burning out of control in a sleepy town north of Sacramento. There was poor air quality advisory prompting many to familiarize themselves with a hitherto unknown short form called AQI as in Air Quality Index in the area where they live.  Ours was showing air quality worse than New Delhi and that is saying something.  New Delhi as in India's capital, has its denizens burning wood and cow dung patties along with garbage as a source of fuel to cook food and bake bricks for construction sites.  Result is an atmosphere with cancer causing particulate abundant in volume so much as to block out the sun from shining through.
