Giving thanks

America yet again celebrated Thanksgiving this Thursday.  A moment for families to attempt to get together and sit at the dinner table for some traditional or not so traditional meals as a family.  Which can be hard sometimes. We usually tend to eat as a family of three daily given the bulk of the extended family is a half planet away.   But we are thankful for a lot.  This time in California the big thanks goes to nature.  Nature who decided to shower this land with a bounty of fresh rain, a much needed downpour to drown out the fires burning among several communities and clear the air literally. Using that as an excuse to step out we went walking in a nearby wooded region to smell in the fresh moist air and give those stagnant limbs something to do.  Here are some pictures from that walk in the woods... Trading the indoor shopping craziness and clearances for the vast outdoors was and will remain the clear choice for us for any Thanks...

Walkabout

Not exactly an aboriginal activity when the said event took place along the San Francisco shore.  But today being the day before Thanksgiving I decided to stroll the quiet eastern shoreline that is the Embarcadero in the morning hours before the crowds came in. The weather could not have been better.  An overnight downpour had left the city sidewalks shiny clean and the upcoming sun was soaking my back warm.  Here are a few glimpses of how the walk unfolded. Pier 39 known by some where the sea lions party and an Italian setup a chocolate factory (a...

We got rain

I can hear you say - so?  What's there to write about?  Well as it happens this winter is one of the drier ones on record.   At least in this part of the country.  We are hurting and may need to ration our use.  Like watch where we are wasting it and try to curb it. News channels are having a feeding frenzy with terms used like 'Team Coverage of the Rain'.  People are liking it to parallels like it was a once in a lifetime cricket match between India and Pakistan or some serious event like the Italian Prime Minister being arrested for sexual mischief. There are accidents galore causing delays across the highway systems.  People as it were are freaking out.  On the other hand the water cooler is rife with - we really needed this rain you know type of banter - at least to keep water in the cooler I suppose. Of course there are no water coolers - just a faucet at a sink that serves as the gathering place to discuss your latest bone tr...
