They came, they shined, they got goodie bags, some got awards and then they partied before they left. What they did during the course of 2013 in some cases was help produce a story told via film.
In some cases it was poignant like 'Twelve Years a Slave' (sadly as cliched as it seems it still remains a topic to be discussed and shared);
Some stories were about surviving when 'All is Lost' (again a played out theme) or being flung out without a tether in near space as shown in 'Gravity' (the whole gravitas of this film was the technical effort that it took to produce it).
Some of them I have yet to catch up - like the B&W film called Nebraska. That seemed interesting but will chime in when I have seen it.
Others I have no idea why they were award worthy - Blue Jasmine - some tale about a wacko created for the screen by Woody Allen who remains mysterious and absent from events.
Then there is a contemporary period film called HER that I do want to catch. Not sure if it won anything.
Also listed were movies about old fashioned and very much part of human psyche - greed in general. Those seem to glorify some gangsta or dude that made it being crooked and not really sure if they are merely a fun way to spend time or have some hidden message. What is clear is that someone thinks they should at least get nominated for consideration.
What do I know?
I see these things when I can afford to - time and money wise.
Otherwise find a good book to read - I just got reading W is for Wasted (alphabet series of mysteries by a Californian author).
Then a somewhat serious tome about where we came from - Journey of Man (it was enlightening and dimming at the same time -I think my ancestry is that of the nomad that traveled north from Africa and ran into the aborigines on the Indian Peninsula) although a competing theory I read elsewhere suggests I may have been the creation of a bunch of shipwrecked Jews that hung out on the Konkan coast years ago.
Now half way through some latest action drama written by Dan Brown.
That is entertainment.
