A scenic wonderland. At the base of Lake Seneca, one of five finger lakes in upstate NY state. This geological wonder is similar to what I witnessed in slot canyons of Arizona except the rock is shale and limestone sediment carved over millenia.
Water still runs through making it amazing to hear and view. About 2 miles in length from one end to another there is a grade of about 500 feet. Easier to do from top to bottom. You can park up top and then take a bus back up.
Below some pictures.
Also access to the lake is easy and was not crowded so we ventured there for a spell.

Then we wanted to check out the NASCAR track that was hosting a race this upcoming weekend in August (after being closed couple years for covid). Lucky for us we missed the crowds but unfortunately it meant we could not attend the race or even get to see the track since it was closed up.
Finally a time to reflect on one of America's legacies in the literary and humor arena. Where the Twain lies in rest. Woodlawn cemetery where Samuel Clemens lies underground. This is in Elmira about 30 min drive south of Watkins.
