The world is awash with the novel virus that upended lifestyles in 2020.
No particular human was spared. If you had lungs you were vulnerable. Even the likes of royalty both monarchs and film stars and heads of various governments were apparently not spared.
But with money and space many can recover. Eventually the world discovered a way to fight back. With a gun at our head Sapiens developed a vaccine or two in record time and it was approved for human injection.
And so it began. The rays of hope began to emerge then hit a wall. Who gets the vaccine? Who makes it and who will be first in line? Really?
The year that humans continue to pile hardware on Mars (even Dubai landed a craft - like they needed new sands to play on) and dream beyond we are still debating this elementary question?
Seriously? It is fantastical to see that no one has decided to send rather bombard regions with the most need first. Think poor areas of the planet. Think hot spots that are showing new variants emerge. Not age, demographic and job profiles. Get all the aircraft in the world and just ship to these most impactful regions and send nurses to administer them. Get rid off the South African and English and Chinese variants. Hit Dharavi and Syria and Africa in a campaign the world has not seen.
It is so ridiculous that even when the doses arrive in well to do regions of America a lot of them are going to waste. Poor planning or lack of education or just lazy ass mismanagement? You the public decide. Vexing this chaos we seem to live in.
As an aside while restricted by this viral load in the ether, I have been glued to the TV /read streaming (new to this modality) and watching a young breed of Indian talent sing. Found this show online called Indian Idol. Known for idol worship Indians have found some 'living' legends. These teenagers and twenty something truly have wonderful vocal chords and the education and practice that reflects in their signing. Enjoyable pastime this.
Whilst watching this show I was also struck by the changes to sartorial tastes and attitudes in general. A erstwhile conservative India is now wearing very bold and glitzy and at times revealing garments and getting tattooed up (India always had a more ethnic skin etching technique but was not mainstream) and singing about it in Bollywood type movies.
