Just because

I had time to ponder on senseless questions so I did. Here is a list of them in no particular order - 1. What happened to Mandakini? What does Mandakini mean? Is it some sort of desi Martini? 2. Why are there no colored tissue rolls? 3. Why does Ganpati have a mouse riding under it? 4. Why do Chinese restaurants serve water without ice when we sit down for dinner at their establishment (in the USA where ice in everything is a birthright or even a naturalized right)? 5. Why are there no 'licit' behaviors in any newstories? Far too many are illicit so I ask. Now that I have put these out there the readership can attempt to answer any or all of them for a grand prize. I am still thinking about what prize befits the solution to the above mentioned. That can be another riddle.

    My guesses for the 1 crore prize-

    Mandakini plays the mandolin. Colourful tissue would add too much colour to a colourless activity. Ganpati wants to prove that being small is not a deterrent to competing with a donkey. Everything melts in front of the Chinese. The last one is tougher, but,..you would not be reading the news if there were only licit behaviours..where's the fun?

    As soon as Greece declares its independence from the Yuro(gue) you shall be paid in the new incranation of the Drachmas which by my estimation 1 Crore of them will equal to 10 US cents. The monies will be transferred in to an account of your choice if you proceed to fill out the online app for the same which may take up to 28 minutes of your time if you have not imbibed any spirits. If you have imbibed it may take 2 mins but may result in no award since we are sticklers for correct spelling of your mother - in - laws third cousins maiden name (if she always stayed a maiden you are automatically disqualified) as part of the applciation process.

Back in DC

This time for a tech conference in the realm of what else? AI. But applied to an oft neglected space called Knowledge Management. The latter is a community of practice that focuses on analyzing, organizing and making available reams of data that have been gathered over time by various functions within an organization for anyone in the company to utilize. This function or process is ripe for applying AI agents (or agentic AI framework) and optimize for better outcomes. It was informative. More rewarding was getting acquainted with folks who practice this craft as well as learning of what they see in the corporate or public sectors. Since the venue was Washington DC it also afforded me the chance to take evening strolls albeit the weather was trying. With wind chill in the single digit it still is a glamorous place to perambulate through history absorbing what this country has been through since its founding days. Costa Rica

 Our first foray into Central America. That elongated isthmus that forms the geographic boundary between two vast continents of North and South America. Specifically landing for NYE 2026 in San Jose, Costa Rica. Capital city for this region that does not have its own army, instead relying on its big bro the Estados Unidos to the north is a metropolis of approx. 500K people. Largely wilderness and with both a Pacific and Carribean/Atlantic coast the country is rich in bio diversity. In Spanish it means the rich coast so named by Columbus landing in early 16th century and being mesmerized by the local tribes sporting gold jewelry.   Our stay included visiting the foothills of a large strato volcano called Arenal and enjoying the naturally heated thermal baths for a while.  Lunching amidst lush forest and watching indigenous species of avian noise makers fly overhead.
